Jim was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on August 15, 1946, but grew up in Long Beach, California. Jim McKie312 viewsBorn: Dec. 31, 1946 - Los Angeles County, CA
Died: May 23, 1998
Misc: Jim died of a heart attack. Later, we heard that the doctors had determined that he had a congenital, though undiagnosed, heart weakness. He was a brilliant creative artist -- designer and actor, and a larger-than-life personality. He certainly crammed a lot into his 52 short years. Walter Medina286 viewsBorn: Sep. 23, 1946 - Texas
Died: 11 Dec 1993 - San Bernardino, CA
Misc: I met Walter when we were kids at Madison Elementary School. All of us were so excited then, that the Brooklyn Dodgers were moving to LA. But it was Walter that would become the consummate Vince Scully fan, he never missed a game listening to his radio, all the way into his high school years! He quietly loved Lakewood High, played in the Band. Walter never was one for the spot light though. After high school he went to work for Douglas Aircraft until he had the rare distinction of being drafted…into the Marine Corps in 1965. He served with distinction with the 4th Marines in Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals during the Con Thien battles along the DMZ in 1967. Upon returning home, he returned to Douglas in his quiet and unassuming fashion. Walter deserved to live and long and happy life, but he tragically died in a car accident around 1993. He was one of those guys who quietly did his job. I am glad to have known him, for he was of our clay and spirit.
