Whoops! I thought these were only class of "64 messages. Really enjoy reading the messages and remember so many of you! The Long Beach high schools now have 4000-5000
students per school! Did we really have only 1000? My e-mail is dllbusd@hotmail.com for anyone who could possibly be interested.

Gee, my husband, Barry Lowell, and I have fallen off the face of the earth when it comes to Lakewood High School reunions. Does anyone remember Benny Ruiz? He was a few years ahead of us and married a Linda Latshaw who went to Poly. She has let me know of the picnic in July every year so we will be there in 2011. I just retired from the Long Beach Unified School District and look forward to seeing everyone again.

Sorry to hear that Tim Hastings has died. We grew up together and shared so many memories. When I heard that he was sick I called him and we relived some of those memories. Was hoping to have a chance to visit him - just another reminder of how short life is. Rest peacefully my friend.

I have enjoyed reading the messages and looking thru the class site this morning...and so wish that I were going to be at the reunion next week. Sadly, I have not kept in contact with many classmates, but saw Kerry Newkirk recently and talked to Dennis Heffley last week who just bought a beautiful farm in CT. I also see Terry Barber every year or so. I've had a lucky life-- interesting career on Wall Street, married to Bob for 40 years (last March), two sons aged 34 and 29, two grandchildren aged 2 and 2 months. Since I retired in '03, I spend the winter in Key West, the summer on Long Island and NY city inbetween. I'm chairman of Acumen Fund, a non-profit devoted to international poverty alleviation. I am grateful for the good things that have happened...but still think of high school as a great highlight.

Won't be able to make the reunion - just moving into our new home. Hope you all have a wonderful time. We will be riding our Harley to South Dakota again this year and every time I go through the tunnel in Custer National Park I think of John Williams reminding me how great that moment is. THANK YOU -- JoAnn

It's nice to be able to take the time to read all the new messages. I've been so busy planning the reunion that I haven't had time to visit here. I wanted to tell everyone that we now have a Facebook group - Lakewood High 1964. We also have the Yahoo group that you can join (see Home page on here).

There is nothing like remembering you High School years to take you back in time. I loved my High School years at Lakewood, sororities, Football Games, amazing Half Time Shows.. being a song girl. I married Bob a 63 grad in 68. We moved to Lake Oswego Oregon in 75. We have 3 wonderful Children. Four grandchildren, and another due in Sept. We moved back to So. Ca. twice for Bob's Career.. but our hearts remained in Oregon. So moved back in 98. Helped start a church in 1977, Rolling Hills Community Church. Over 3,000 members now.. amazing..hope to go to the picnic in July.

I just counted the number that is on the commencement. There are 443 girls and 440 boys for a total of 883. We may have had over 1000 in our class but only 883 graduated. I was told that I was number 166 out of 1166 in our class. If someone has time get out your Citadel and count the number of seniors.
